Razor Motor Scooters
January 30th, 2012Razor motor scooters are vehicles with small wheels and a low-powered gasoline engine geared to the rear wheel. The first patents for “foot powered” scooters date back to 1921. Up to that time there were no motors attached to the scooter.
The old-fashioned foot-powered push scooter was updated to a Razor motor scooter under the direction of Gino Tsai, whose father was a mechanical engineer for the J. D. Corporation in Shanghai, Taiwan. To solve this problem he updated the old-fashioned push scooter into what we now know as the modern Razor motor scooter.
Why was the Razor motor scooter so popular? It has small polyurethane wheels and a low-powered engine. Today there are many different brands and models of motor scooters. We have electric scooters and gas powered motor scooters. The most commonly seen style of scooter is the “folding,” or “foldable,” scooter.
Motor scooters with “kick tails” are called freestyle scooters and usually have hand brakes due to the fact that the back fender allows for the performance of tricks instead of braking.
Electric scooters are generally bigger and heavier. Razor motor scooters of this type are usually called mobility scooters.
Gas powered motorized scooters are usually more powerful and can attain higher speeds than the folding scooters or electric scooters.

Pros and Cons of Motor Scooters
Motor scooters first appeared on the scene in the 1930s. One advantage of the motor scooter is the fuel efficiency. The motor scooter forms the ideal way to get to and from short to medium distances.
Motor scooters are also preferred because they are easy to maintain. Cars, while being popular, are expensive. The Razor motor scooters does break down frequently and when it does, the repair bill is not as astronomical as that of a car.
Scooters are easy to store. Most people especially in the West have cars in addition to scooters. The motor scooter can also fit comfortably beside the car and be able allow the ride room to maneuver.
Motor scooters also have their own disadvantages. Many people today commute long distances to and from work.
